Ed Randell – ‘the editor’
Originally from England, Ed has worked in the Australian media since making the life-changing decision to move to Queensland in 2003.
With an honours degree in journalism and 17 years of media experience behind him, Ed has excelled as a writer, sub-editor and digital editor. He has worked for a vast range of titles including The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The Courier-Mail and the Sunshine Coast Daily in Australia and The News of the World, Four Four Two magazine and as a content editor for Sky Sports and ITV in Britain.
In his full-time employment, Ed has filled the full spectrum of roles from section editor and production editor to night editor, chief of staff and homepage editor.
Ed’s digital experience extends to social media and SEO, and he is an expert at creating snappy copy that is tailored to specific audiences for a range of different platforms, from Facebook and Twitter to Instagram and Snapchat.
A passion for travel has also resulted in Ed’s extensive feature-writing experience, and his photography skills have also become well honed thanks to the inspirational places he has been lucky enough to spend time in.
Along the way he has picked up a number of accolades, both for writing and sub-editing – with headline writing a particular strength and one in which he has been contracted to carry out masterclasses on over the years.
Ed brings his award-winning experience to the Core Communications Group as a leading editor, writer and creative account manager.
As the digital revolution continues to gather pace, Ed has kept up with advances in technology and changes in reader tastes and demands.
His experience with user analytics programs also means he has an extensive knowledge of what readers want and when they want it, as well as which writing styles work for each platform.
